3 Developer Podcasts you shouldn’t miss in 2017

There are so many podcasts for developers that it is hard to keep up. In the last few months I spent a lot of time listening to podcasts and found 3 that I must share with you.

Legacy Code Rocks

My favourite podcast so far is Legacy Code Rocks hosted by Andrea Goulet and Scott Ford. They are on a quest to change the way we think about legacy code. Having may own fair share of legacy apps I find it interesting to hear who other developers attack their monoliths and gain joy from improving existing software. How to address things like estimates and how to show progress are just two out of many interesting topics covered. If you have a legacy application, then you should definitely listen to this podcast.

>Code

A much wider range of topics is covered by Greater than Code. If you care about refactoring or how you can grow your team, this podcast has it covered. They talk about all the things that are often ignored when it comes to the workplace. But ignoring doesn’t solve any problems, they just grow. Listening how different people with different opinions and perspectives share their lessons learned is an incredible chance to gain a more diverse understanding. Too often are simple things that could be changed without much effort the ones that make people feel unwelcome or afraid. Listen carefully and act accordingly!

Testing In The Pub

Things work a bit different in Britain. The idea to record a podcast in a pub is such an extravaganza, that seems strange but works out great for Testing In The Pub. While the audio quality is not always great, the topics covered are worth listening to. As the name suggest it’s about testing software and the guests offer insights in a world that is mostly ignored.

Those 3 podcasts address a wide range of topics that I find very important. If you have podcasts that I should listen to, please leave a comment.
