Enter the Flow with Music to Code By

Working in the flow feels great. You are fully immersed and can spend hours focused on one single goal. However, it’s not that easy to get into this state of mind.
Some use a form of meditation techniques, other listen to music. The later one sometimes worked for me, but most of the time it’s more a distraction. The songs that are fun to listen to often don’t improve the ability to solve complex problems.

The album Music to Code By is different. The 3 tracks by Carl Franklin are specially made to put you in the flow. There are no lyrics, no sudden change of pace or distracting sounds. All is composed in a way that helps you to put your mind at ease and concentrate on the task at hand. Every track is 25 minutes long to match the average length of a Pomodoro. If you don’t like that technique you don’t have to use it. Just work to the music at your own speed.

After a few weeks I now just have to start the Blue track and concentrating on a problem is no longer a hassle. If you have a hard time to get into the flow you should give it a try. You can buy the album for 18$ at pwop.com or listen to the 4 minutes long samples of all the tracks.
