Goodbye 2025, Welcome 2026
With the end of the year just around the corner, it is time to look back and take a brief look ahead to 2026.

With the end of the year just around the corner, it is time to look back and take a brief look ahead to 2026.

With only a few hours remaining of 2024, it is time to look back and take a tiny outlook on 2025.
As with many other websites these days, the number of page views for this blog has plummeted. The lower the numbers are, the more important it would be for the statistics tool to report the correct numbers. Unfortunately, Jetpack Stats is not up to the task. After collecting data for the last 12 months, I concluded that Jetpack misses up to 30% of the page views.
A new installation of Windows 11, a new challenge to overcome. This time the installation started without a problem, but later on it could not find any internet connection. Neither the ethernet cable nor the wireless network worked because Windows did not install any drivers for the network adapters.
Microsoft Word offers us a great feature called “Read Aloud” that I often use to check if I mistakenly wrote a similar but wrong word in my posts.
After installing a new computer, that feature was still there but it sounded awful. Instead of the nice realistic voice I am used to, I got a mechanically sounding robot that butchered the English language. Oh no!
We are already in the last week of 2023. This year flew by and so many things happened that I cannot recall all of them. Let us have a look at the highlights of my 2023.
On this day 10 years ago, I was putting the finishing touches on the first blog posts I was going to publish on this blog. What started with a 12 posts series on RavenDB continued for much longer than I had anticipated. Including this post, I published 580 posts on various topics covering .Net, Python, SQL, and Testing:
After changing the original SSD in my DELL XPS 15 9750 to a Seagate FireCuda 530, I wanted to install Windows 11. Before even the first screen of the installer could load, it crashed with the Blue Screen of Death and the KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE stop code:
For the last few months, the iOS WordPress application had more and more problems connecting to my self-hosted blog. Deleting it and reinstalling the app helped only for a short time. As there was no change in the situation with the new Jetpack application, I had to figure out what was wrong.
With only a few days left in 2022, it looks like this fading year was not too bad for me. I was able to travel again and visit places I have missed and others I have wanted to see for a long time.
