This summer I could finally catch up with many podcasts I wanted to listen to. To hear different perspectives is a great opportunity to rethink what you are doing and discover new possibilities. One of the new discoveries I made is the CodeNewbie podcast by Saron Yitbarek.
Every week Saron produces a new episode on topics varying from writing code to testing to design and many more. There are currently 50 episodes available and the one year anniversary of the podcast is right around the corner. The podcast is therefore not just a temporary thing that will be gone in a few weeks.
The main audience of the podcast are people new to programming. However, with all the new things coming up you will have the newbie feeling from time to time, even when you write code for years. The questions answered in the podcast are therefore helpful for most developers– even when they wouldn’t call themselves a newbie.
To get a good overview on the podcast I can recommend these 5 episodes:
- Ep. 41 & 42 with Sandi Metz: POODR And Beyond – Part I and Part II
- Ep. 17 with Scott Hanselman: Getting Involved
- Ep. 10 with Katrina Owen: Nitpicks and Devils
- Ep. 22 with Catt Small: Intro to UX
If you have an hour or two you should listen to the CodeNewbie podcast. It’s worth it!
