Windows 11 Installer Stuck at 42% - Now What?
There is an annoying bug in the Windows 11 Installer that catches me way too often. If you select something different than the pre-selected values in the first screen for the language options, the installer starts but then stays forever at this progress level:
42%
Should this happen to you, do not wait and restart the installation right away. There is no coming back and you could wait for hours without any further progress.
The fix to this problem is as simple as annoying: Install the operating system with the default language (in my case English UK) and make sure that the number and date format is the same.
That way the installer does its job, goes quickly beyond the 42% and you end up with a new Windows 11 installation in no time. After the first log-in you can change the language and number format settings to whatever combination you like. Now it will work and switch the language as you would expect.
