Put Your Visual Studio Extensions Back Into the Main Menu

Visual Studio 2019 has an annoying behaviour when it comes to extensions. By default, they are not directly accessible in the menu bar, they are hidden in the Extensions menu:

ReSharper and OzCode are hidden below the Extensions menu

For extensions you often need, like ReSharper and OzCode, this placement is an extra click whenever you want to access them. Luckily, there is a simple way to change this. In the Extensions menu you find the entry Customize Menu…. You can open this dialog and deselect the extensions you want to have in your main menu (what is selected there shows up inside the Extensions menu and not in the main navigation bar):

Make your selection in the Extensions Menu tab

Save your changes with OK and then restart Visual Studio. On your next start your favourite extensions will be directly accessible in the main menu:

ReSharper and OzCode are now in the main menu

The more often you need an extension, the more valuable is this little change.
