How to Catch Up on the Latest Claude Code Updates

If you return to Claude Code after a few weeks of vacation, you may be way behind on all the new things that you now can do with Claude Code. Let us explore a few ways to get up to date and not to miss important updates.

What’s new section in the Claude Code docs

The best place to get a quick view on new things for Claude is on the What's new section of code.claude.com. Here we get a distilled list of new features without wasting much time to read through a long list. We can dive deeper by following the links to learn more about what caught our attention.

We get a summary of the changes in Claude Code.

The release notes in the Claude API docs

We can get a more detailed overview of the most important changes on platform.claude.com. This page is great for a detailed overview on what is going on. With all the links we can directly access the particulars and do not waste time. Compared to the What’s new section we have a lot more to dig through.

We see nearly an entry for every day, what shows the large number of things that go on in Claude Code.

The release notes on GitHub

If we are primarily interested in Claude Code rather than other Claude tools, we can read the release notes on GitHub. Here we get all the details of each release and the specific packages for each version. The CHANGELOG.md is the main part of this repository and offers us a second view on the same information– this time all is in one Markdown file, and we only get the version number and not the release date for orientation.

We get the release date and the version number in the changelog with all the things that changed in this specific version.

Reddit

On r/ClaudeAI and r/ClaudeCode we have two subreddits that cover new and helpful features of Claude. While new things show up as well, we get here a broader set of helpful topics that are also great to answer on how to achieve a specific goal.

On Reddit the topics cover more than just new features.

Social media

All social media platforms are full of content about Claude. Here it is more a challenge to get the real news out of an endless stream of 5 must-have features posts. With the lack of a time-sorted feed, we get old posts mixed with new ones. And while this sometimes offers us a helpful reminder on older features that we missed so far, it more often is a time waster.

On the plus side, we often have content that not only shows us a feature but gives tips on how to use it effectively. That makes the flow of outdated news worthwhile.

Next

With a mix of all those places we can stay up to date on Claude and its high-paced development cycle. Next week we take a deeper look at a new command that gives us insights on our Claude Code usage.
