A year ago, I had the hope that with the COVID vaccine we are back in something called "normal" by summer. For a few weeks it looked like this could be true before it turned for the worse. While writing this post Switzerland starts the Omicron wave at the high point of our 5th wave (driven by Delta). And yet, as so often in the past two years, the situation around us seams to go unnoticed by the authorities. There is still a strong hybris that we are better and that our measures are sufficient.

My 2020 in Review

I am glad 2020 is over. It was the year that put an end to any hope of self-responsibility to tackle a global crisis. It did not work for COVID-19, it will not work for climate change. We need something else and I hope we find it in time.

How Much Impact Can New Network Cables Have?

The network cables in my home are old. Some date back to the time I moved in and even the newer ones passed the five-year mark. Over the last few years, I have again and again read @SwiftOnSecurity's recommendation to replace network cables more often. Since I had no problems with my network, there was no reason for me to buy new ones.

Goodbye 2019, Welcome 2020

2019 was a year full of challenges and I am happy that it is over. I use the time between the holidays to recharge my batteries so that I will be ready to tackle the changes that 2020 will bring.
